Statement issued by the Paris-CDG Airport unions.

The CGT Roissy condemns the interference with freedom of movement of pro-Palestinian activists, prevented from boarding in Roissy July 8
Saturday, July 9, 2011

Yesterday, Friday, July 8, several dozen pro-Palestinian activists were prevented from boarding their flights with several airlines at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport, on the orders of the Israeli authorities who declared them "undesirables."

The activists/passengers were forced to stay on the ground, and they demonstrated throughout the day to protest against this unjustified interference with their freedom of movement. They were made to leave by the police later that day.

Hundreds of activists were stranded at other European airports. Those who reached Tel Aviv en route to Palestine were immediately arrested and interrogated.  In Greece, the flotilla of international solidarity, that sailed to Gaza, has also been arrested on the orders of Israel.

The CGT Roissy branch condemns the arrests and restrictions on freedom of movement and stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people, fighting for their rights.

Sud Aerien Statement on Freedom of Travel!

The Sud Aerien protest strongly against the prevention of freedom of movement of over 300 Palestine solidarity activists who were due to take flights to travel to Palestine.

All airlines, Malev, Lufthansa, and Air France turned back dozens of passengers with valid tickets, papers in good order and with a valid passport.

The Israeli government had communicated to the airlines a list of several hundred people it considered "undesirables" although Israel is a necessary stop on any route into Palestine.

This is an intolerable affront to fundamental freedoms and so we protest against the scandalous complicity of airline managements who are behaving here as auxiliary police for the Israeli authorities.
